Data-driven work is playing an increasing role within the world of transportation and logistics. Insights and information are increasingly important in (daily) decision making. That is why Cornelissen has invested in a new and modern data platform.
"Within Cornelissen we work with different applications. Every day there are more than 500 trucks on the road, it is not just about transport. But about a logistics service and everything that goes with it. At each step in the process there is a lot of data available. The challenge was to unlock and combine this data from the different systems. By harnessing the power of TimeXtender and Power BI, we managed to create valuable insights. With this we can make faster decisions and also improve processes," says Niels Tijssen, Business Intelligence Specialist at Cornelissen.
The solution.
Cornelissen was using a datalake managed by an external party. This solution was less flexible and reliable. In addition, a lot was done in Excel. All this was quite complex and time-consuming. The amount of data is also increasing due to Cornelissen's growth, among other things. Hence Cornelissen has chosen TimeXtender in combination with PowerBI.
TimeXtender is a user-friendly tool. With it, the data from different applications is cleverly linked together. This has given Cornelissen more and better insights. Many calculations are done in TimeXtender, thus unburdening Power BI, but also creating one truth of the data.
By automating these steps, Cornelissen has up-to-date data sets on a daily basis. These are used for reports but also by the data analysts for further analysis.
